1) CHECK YOUR AUTOMATIC FREEZE GUARD BEFORE THE FIRST FREEZE:
2) OTHER EXPOSED PIPING SHOULD BE DRAINED OR INSULATED:
3) RUN POOL EQUIPMENT AT NIGHT:
It is critical that you take these steps to help guard against "Old Man Winter's" attack on your pool every year, or spring could be a costly season. If you have questions or need assistance please give us a call at 214-348-1505 and we will be happy to assist you!
At the first sign of a freeze, you should check the automatic freeze guard on your pool equipment (the freeze guard is designed as added protection against freezing pipes should you forget to turn on your pool during freezing temperatures). When the outside air temperature is at or near freezing, flip the switch at the time clock to the "Off" position; if the pump continues to run, and water is circulating through all pool, spa and fountain piping your freeze guard is functioning properly.
Other exposed piping, such as equalizer lines, pool fill lines or exposed auto water levelers should be plugged off at the pool and drained or insulated to prevent freeze damage.
By running your equipment at night, instead of during the day, you insure that the equipment will be on when freezing temperatures are most common. This also reduces electrical costs by not duplicating run-time on equipment when it freezes at night.
